How credits work

What a credit buys
A book is priced one output at a time. Its interior is priced by its pages, every page it prints, whatever its trim size:
- Word search interior: 1 credit per 4 pages
- Sudoku interior: 1 credit per 4 pages
- Coloring book interior: 1 credit per 2 pages
- Cover: 5 credits
- Book details (subtitle, description, keywords, categories): 3 credits — coming soon
Part of a block of pages counts as a whole one: at 1 credit per 4 pages, a 58-page word search interior is 15 credits. A coloring design that couldn’t be drawn isn’t charged, and drawing one design again costs 1 credit. You see the whole order, and what it leaves in your balance, before you create the book.
Where credits come from
- A new account starts with 20 credits, once. No card.
- A plan adds credits every month: Starter 100, Pro 300, Publisher 600. A yearly plan is billed once a year, and its credits still arrive every month.
- More whenever you need them: 100 credits for $25.00, once, with or without a plan.
Credits never expire: a plan’s monthly credits roll over, and they stay in your balance if you cancel the plan.
Changing your plan
On Account you can move between Starter, Pro, Publisher on the same billing, monthly or yearly. An upgrade is charged right away for the rest of the period (Paddle, our payment provider, calculates the amount) and brings the difference in monthly credits for what is left of the month, as soon as that payment goes through. A downgrade starts at your renewal: you keep this period’s credits, nothing is refunded, and on a yearly plan the current plan’s monthly credits keep arriving until the year ends. One change at a time: a change still on its way has to finish first.
When a book is charged
- The interior is charged when you create the book. The cover is charged when it starts, right after.
- If anything fails, its credits come back by themselves. The book keeps your settings, so you can try again.
- Making an output again (another cover look, a new interior) costs that output’s price again; the earlier version is kept.
- New book like this (a book’s ⋯ menu in Books) starts a new book from that book’s settings; it is charged like any new book.
Seeing where your credits went
Account lists every movement — credits bought or granted, each output a book paid for, and anything that came back — with the balance it left you at.
