KDP's AI question, for a PublisherFriendly book
Last reviewed 2026-10-05 against KDP’s Content Guidelines.
What KDP asks
When you publish a book, or change and republish one, KDP asks whether it contains AI-generated content: text, images or translations. In KDP’s terms, content an AI tool created is AI-generated — even if you edited it a lot afterwards. Content you made yourself and only polished, checked or brainstormed with an AI tool is AI-assisted, and KDP does not ask you to report that. Either way, you are responsible for the book meeting KDP’s guidelines, including intellectual property. The rule in full: KDP Content Guidelines.
How each part of a PublisherFriendly book is made
| Part | Made by |
|---|---|
| Word search: the word lists | An AI model, from the theme you wrote |
| Word search: the puzzle grids and answer keys | Our own program |
| Sudoku: the puzzles and answers | Our own program |
| Coloring: every page drawing | An AI image model |
| Every cover: its front image | An AI image model (a coloring book’s front is painted from one of its own pages) |
So a book with a PublisherFriendly cover has AI-generated images, and a word search or coloring interior has AI-generated content too. A sudoku interior on its own, with a cover you made elsewhere, has none from us. If you change the book yourself before publishing, you know best what is now yours.
Please don’t
- Describe AI-drawn pages or covers as hand-drawn or illustrated by a person, in the book or in its listing.
- Assume a model’s words are always right: read the word lists and the cover text before you publish.
